Moulding and Processing Specialist

Department The STAMAX Global Application Technology team within SABIC Innovative Plastics works closely with the commercial teams, product development team and customers to ensure successful development and application of our plastics, mainly STAMAX. STAMAX is a long fibre reinforced PP material, mainly used for automotive semi-structural components and sales volume is rapidly growing. The team is leading in long fibre reinforced material application development, including composite processing, design, computer aided engineering and testing. Specifically in the field of processing it has developed state of the art knowledge on topics like fibre length optimization, process optimisation, secondary operations and work on alternative processes such as foaming. Currently a vacancy exists for a Moulding and Processing Specialist for fibre reinforced materials located in Geleen (Netherlands). The Challenge Interact with commercial and product development teams as well as customers to identify areas for business growth through advanced injection moulding techniques and secondary operations. Cooperate closely with Application Development Engineers to maintain and grow the best in class know-how on processing of long fibre reinforced materials in new components. Translate business and application development needs in expertise programs. Define, lead and report these processing expertise research programs on long fibre reinforced plastics and moulded parts. Build guidelines and give advice on tool, screw and gating designs for fibre reinforced thermoplastic resins. Maintain state of the art knowledge on new technology developments and validate these developments for SABIC materials. Establish a network with external partners, institutes and processing machine suppliers to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the development programs. Have an active role in SABIC global centres of excellence in the field of processing. Your Profile Required Skills: State of the art knowledge (both hands-on and theoretical) on injection moulding processes. Affinity with Research. Project leadership: being a self-starter in defining and carrying out a project. Good communication skills. Independent and flexible worker having good team player capabilities. Fluent in English (writing and speaking). Qualification/Education: Master degree in mechanical engineering, plastics engineering or general engineering with polymer processing experience. A PhD thesis in the field of injection moulding processing is seen as a relevant experience. Experience in composite and/or automotive field is appreciated. Knowledge of computer aided modelling techniques for tool design and mould filling analysis is a plus.
